Before my brothers and sisters in Christ shun and exile me, I will prove the point made in the title for this commentary.
Jeremiah 1:4-5 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
There is the proof that God does not agree with the typical pro–life assertion that life begins at conception. God says that life begins before conception. He has an undeniable plan for every life. There are undoubtedly unplanned, unwanted, pregnancies, even detestable acts of rape that produce an innocent fetus with no choice in the decision to be born.
Here is my story:
I was adopted at five days old by a couple that could no longer have children. My adoptive parents always told me that I was adopted. This is the last time you will hear me refer to my adoptive parents using that description. Don and LaVonna Kirkham deserve better. They are my real parents! Anyone can have sex and become a biological parent. A real parent is the one that teaches you how to throw a ball or ride a bike. A real parent instills conservative, life loving values into you. I thank God that I was adopted out of the distorted circumstances into which I could have been born.
When I was twenty eight years old I was sought out by my biological sisters and half sisters. I agreed to meet them, not out of any curiosity about where I came from, but from the mindset that it was not my biological sisters’ fault that I was adopted out of their family.
I found out also that my biological parents where still alive and together at that time. I discovered many things about the dysfunction that took place in that family over the years. I learned of abject poverty and abuses that would have embroiled me as well had I not been adopted out. They all agreed that God had given me a better life than they ever had. I shuddered to find that that my biological father had tried, unsuccessfully, obviously, to abort me with a rat tailed comb. I still have no idea what a rat tailed comb is specifically, and I don’t want to know! Maybe this explains why my real mom had to fight me to keep my hair groomed when I was a little boy! So there you have it folks, I am a failed abortion. That failure was a win. My wife and I operate a small business that we use to not only provide a valuable service to our customers, but also allows us to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with many of them. We are raising seven beautiful children that are going to change the world for the better.
Do I believe that my life began before conception? You bet I do. Life does not begin with a decision that we humans make. All life began with a big decision made by the God of all creation before any of us were a gleam in our daddies’ eyes. You see, there are all kinds of illegitimate pregnancies, but there is no such thing as an illegitimate child.
Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Does this verse say specifically which children are or are not His heritage? No! All children are valuable to Him. He gave us the free will to make mistakes and bring about babies born outside the stability of His institute of marriage. It is not His will that children be born in any manner other than what He ordained, however, He loves us all, no matter how we got here. I thank God that he did not allow me to be aborted. (Although I am sure that some of the pro-abortion folks reading this wish that I had died so my pro-life voice would never have been heard.) We must be adamant in electing conservatives so that there will be an end to the genocide of abortion. If you cast a vote for a pro choice candidate, please burn your baptism certificate. What Christian would cast a vote to destroy the Lord’s reward?
